LAHORE: Manawan police registered an FIR against an official of the Lahore Crime Control Department (CCD) for extorting money from a man by misusing his authority.

As per the FIR, the suspect, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Umar contacted a man, Abdul Shakoor, informing him that he had some details of his internal family issues.

The ASI then demanded Rs400,000 from Shakoor to settle his family matters and warned of action by the CCD police if he did not pay him the amount.

The man later held negotiations with the ASI and convinced him that he could pay him Rs160,000. The FIR stated that Abdul Shakoor paid the amount to the police official.

However, he later brought the matter to the notice of CCD Additional IG Sohail Zafar Chattha, who immediately ordered an investigation into the matter.

During the inquiry, the allegations against the ASI proved true and a case was lodged against him on the complaint of Abdul Shakoor.
