ISLAMABAD May 17: Four Senators from the Federal Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) have decided not to withdraw support to the government after their meeting with President Gen Pervez Musharraf in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

The senators — led by Hamidullah Jan Afridi and including Hafiz Abdul Malik Qadri, Abdur Rashid and Abdur Raziq — had an half an hour meeting with the president. They highlighted the demands and grievances due to which they had resigned from chairmanships of two house committees and membership from all the committees.

Talking to newsmen in parliament house, Mr Afridi said on Wednesday that they were satisfied with the meeting and the assurances they had received from the president.

He claimed that the president had regretted the act of ignoring them in representation in the federal cabinet and promised that they would be represented in the cabinet after the return of the prime minister from abroad.
