BATTAGRAM: A man allegedly shot dead his niece for honour here on Sunday night, the police said.
The police said that the alleged killer surrendered to them and narrated the incident.
He claimed in his report that he had been a guest at his brother’s house in Khawargai Colony area for the past two days.
“On the night of the incident, while my brother was at a poultry farm in Nowshera Ajmera area, I was supposed to take care of the house,” he said, adding that he was sleeping in one of the rooms while his 16-year-old niece along with her mother and stepmother was sleeping in another room.
“At around 2am, I heard the sound of the main gate opening, which woke me up. Upon seeing my niece leaving the house with three people, I chased them, and fired at my niece with a pistol,” the uncle of the deceased girl told the police.
He said the firing resulted in her death on the spot, while a boy was injured. He said the other two individuals fled the scene.
The police booked the alleged killer under sections 302, 324, 311 of Pakistan Penal Code and 15AA, and recovered a rifle and the pistol used in the crime.
