QUETTA: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has sealed a factory producing spurious and counterfeit cold drinks in the Kechi Baig area near Qambrani Road in Quetta.

A team of BFA raided the site after receiving a tip-off and seized thousands of litres of hazardous beverages being manufactured there under the labels of popular soft drink brands.

The authorities also recovered fake labels, empty bottles, filling machines and during the raid.

Beverages manufactured in the factory were being distributed in Quetta and other districts across the province, officials said.

The factory was sealed on the spot, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the culprits.

Later, the confiscated beverages were destroyed.

BFA Director General Waqar Khurshid Alam stated the authority was “fully committed to protecting public health and will continue its actions indiscriminately against those involved in the production and sale of fake, substandard, and harmful food items”.

He appealed to citizens to report any suspicious activity or food products immediately to the BFA so that timely action can be taken.

Complainants can report suspicious products or activities on food authority’s helpline 0333-4664507 or through the agency’s official social media platforms.
