BAHAWALPUR: Multan Senior Superintendent of Police (operations) Ahmed Zunair Cheema on Tuesday suspended four officials of the Dolphin Force from service for allegedly torturing a matriculation student, after a video of the incident surfaced on social media.

As per police officials, the SSP took action against the Dolphin personnel on the directive of Multan City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Dogar, who took notice of the video on social media.Police officials say four Dolphin officials allegedly tortured a 17-year-old student, Malik Daud Imran, at Pull Chorian near Qadirpur Ran on Monday.

They claimed that the students had passed derogatory comments about the Dolphin officials who were on duty, after which they tortured Daud.

The SSP operation, on CPO’s orders, suspended the four personnel from service, whose names were not made public by police officials.

It is learnt that an inquiry against the suspended officials will be initiated before further action.

SUSPECT KILLED: A suspected dacoit was allegedly killed in firing by his accomplices during an “encounter” with a team of the Crime Control Department (CCD) near 12-WB village in the limits of Vehari Saddar police station on Tuesday.

According to CCD officials, Owais, a resident of Raiwind, who was allegedly involved in dacoities, along with his unidentified accomplices, exchanged fire with a CCD patrolling team.

After the firing stopped, the police found Owais lying dead on the spot with bullet wounds. The police claimed his fleeing accomplices killed him.

WOMEN RAPED: Two women were allegedly raped in separate incidents in the limits of Gaggo police station in Vehari district on Tuesday.

According to police sources, in the first incident, a woman ‘S’, a resident of 365/WB village, was allegedly raped by a suspect, F’ of the same village, who lured her to the fields. On hearing the woman’s cries, locals rushed to rescue her. The suspect managed to flee. Police are looking for him after registering a case.

In the second incident, a woman, ‘N’, was on her way home at 235/EB village when the suspect, a landlord, forcibly took her to his outhouse, where he allegedly raped her.

Her parents reported the matter to the police. A rape case was registered against the suspect.
