SARGODHA: The Special Anti-Terrorism Court has issued arrest warrants for 57 accused, including opposition leaders in the National Assembly and Punjab Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan and Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar, in the May 9 Mianwali Judicial Complex attack case.
The evidence in the case has been completed and it is scheduled for final discussion.
The court, while fixing the proceedings for Tuesday (today), ordered the police to arrest the accused and present them in the court at all costs.
ATC Sargodha Special Judge Muhammad Naeem Sheikh had earlier handed down10-year jail term in absentia in the case FIR No 72/23 registered against 32 nominated PTI leaders and workers by Musakhel police, Mianwali district.
They included the Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar, Ahmed Chatta and Bilal Ijaz.
ARRESTED: Sargodha police have arrested over a dozen suspects, including three women, in a crackdown on drug selling and illegal arms, and recovered 4kgs of hashish, over 1kg of ice, 60 liters of alcohol, and five illicit arms from them.
According to sources, Satellite Town police seized 1kg and 200 gram hashish from two women drug peddlers, 540 grams of hashish from a woman, Zahra Bibi, 1kg, 40 grams of ice from Noman, 560 grams of hashish from Zubair, 540 grams of hashish from Ahmed, 640 grams of hashish from Tayyab, 60 liters of alcohol from Faisal, and a 44 bore rifle from Qaiser.
Bhagtanwala police recovered a 12 bore gun from Bahadur, Laksian police recovered a Kalashnikov from Yar Muhammad, Phularwan police recovered a 12 bore gun from Tahawar and Atta Shaheed police recovered a 30 bore pistol from Samar and arrested the suspect.
