SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Four of the seven police personnel who were abducted six days ago in Upper South Waziristan were safely recovered on Thursday.

According to Upper South Waziristan DPO Arshad Khan, the recovery was made possible through joint efforts of the security forces, police and local Mehsud tribal elders.

The DPO confirmed that sub-inspector Abdul Khaliq was among the recovered officials. All the four policemen were associated with Sarvekai police station and had gone missing from Shahoor area. The recovered personnel had been shifted to a safe location and were said to be in stable condition, he said.

DPO Arshad Khan said that the remaining three police officials from Ladha police station, who were abducted while patrolling Chalerai area in Makeen, were still missing.

Efforts to secure their safe recovery were under way with the help of tribal elders and law enforcement agencies, he added.

In response to the deteriorating security situation, patrolling and checking had been intensified in the area. The DPO urged the public to immediately report any suspicious activity to the police or security agencies to help maintain law and order.
