KARACHI, May 16: The Sindh government is considering to work out a package for workers of Thatta and Dadu sugar mills. Talking to newsmen at the Chief Minister’s House here on Monday, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said negotiations on the issue were continuing.

However, the chief minister said, he would not explain the matter in a hurry unless something was finalised in favour of the people.

Workers of the two sugar mills are looking for a ‘golden handshake’ and this is also being considered. But this would involve billions of rupees.

The chief minister said the Dadu and Thatta sugar mills had been the asset to the government and the people of Sindh, but the rule of Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif had failed the mills.

Had previous governments taken interest in the affair of the mills, the people of Sindh would have been buying sugar at low prices, he said.—APP
