LAHORE: The government has approved the construction of two new interchanges to connect Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Project with various motorways and adjoining areas.

According to a spokesperson for the Ravi Urban Development Authority (Ruda), the project executing agency, the proposal for the construction of interchanges was approved in a meeting presided over by the Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan here at the National Highway Authority (NHA) regional office.

The core objective of the meeting was to integrate the Ruda master plan with the NHA and approval of the new interchanges.

During the meeting, a detailed development plan was also discussed. After going through the plan, the minister approved new interchanges on Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (LSM) Eastern Bypass and Motorway M2 for Ravi City intersections.

He also ordered speedy development work for the new interchanges.

Federal Secretary for Communications Ali Sher Mehsud, NHA Chairman Shehryar Sultan, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), RUDA, Imran Amin, Chief Operating Officer (COO) retired BrigMansoor Janjua, Executive Director (Engineering) Abdul Waheed Khan and other senior officials were present.

PLANTATION: The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has launched the ‘Plant for Pakistan’ campaign for environmental sustainability.

Under the initiative, the PHA is offering free delivery and planting of saplings at citizens’ homes.

To facilitate public participation in the campaign, a dedicated helpline 1399 has also been launched. People can call on the helpline, provide their name and address and a PHA gardener will deliver and plant the sapling at their doorstep, free of cost.

“This initiative is a practical move towards realising the government’s Green Punjab vision. Providing free plants to every household is a significant step towards building a greener Punjab,” says PHA Director General Mansoor Ahmad in a statement on Monday.

He adds that the PHA is fully committed to environmental improvement and urban beautification.

The DG further said that all available resources are being utilised to improve Lahore’s environment and promote greenery across the city.

LESCO: Three superintending engineers have been promoted to the position of chief engineer in Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco).

According to a spokesperson, Aftab Hussain Butt, SE (GSO), has been promoted and appointed as chief engineer O&M (T&G). Zulfiqar Ali Baloch, Manager (S&I), has been appointed as the chief engineer PIU. Additionally, Muhammad Farooq Umar, Manager (T&S), has been appointed as chief engineer for material management.
