Dawn Editor

Mr Tahir Mirza, the present Editor of Dawn, will be retiring with effect from next week. He will be succeeded as Editor of Dawn by Mr Abbas Nasir. Mr Mirza was Resident Editor in Lahore at the launch of the Lahore Dawn. Subsequently he served at various posts in Dawn including a stint as Dawn’s correspondent in Washington before becoming Editor. Mr Mirza will continue to be associated with Dawn as Contributing Editor.

Mr Abbas Nasir, the Editor–designate, headed till recently the Asia Pacific Region of the BBC World Service in London. He began his career with Dawn in 1984, and has been associated with several national dailies in Pakistan, including The Muslim and The News. He also worked with the English language monthly The Herald. He brings with him a vast experience of both print and electronic journalism.
