BAHAWALPUR: The Lodhran Crime Control Department (CCD) claimed to have killed two suspected outlaws during exchange of fire in Saddar police precincts.
According to a spokesperson for the CCD Multan region, a team was patrolling near Pul Gopal at night when they intercepted four men riding two motorcycles and signaled them to stop. Instead, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the officials. The CCD team retaliated, during which two suspects were critically injured.
Police claimed that the suspects were killed in firing by their own accomplices.
The deceased were identified as Luqman Hakim and Javed Zarnab Gul. Both were wanted in several cases, including bank robberies, terrorism, and murders, with criminal records across multiple police stations, including those in Sindh.
A case has been registered against their accomplices who managed their escape.
In another incident, Ahmedpur East police claimed to have killed Imran, the alleged murderer of an 11-year-old girl, during a police encounter on Wednesday.
According to the police PRO, the minor girl ‘S’ was abducted and later found dead in a nearby field. Police arrested the suspect, Imran, within 12 hours of the incident. He was later taken to the crime scene for recovery of the murder weapon.
While the police party was at the location, Imran’s accomplices who were already hiding there allegedly opened fire on the team. Police returned fire, during which Imran was killed by the bullets fired by his own accomplices. The attackers managed to escape, and a case has been registered against them.
PROTEST: A group of doctors and paramedical staff from Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) held a press conference on Tuesday to protest the Punjab government’s decision to transfer Medical Superintendent Dr. Aamir Mahmood Bokhari to the provincial health office.
Members of the Young Doctors’ Association (YDA) demanded the immediate cancellation of Dr. Bokhari’s transfer and called for an impartial inquiry into the matter.
It merits mentioning that Dr. Bokhari was transferred following a surprise visit by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) south Punjab, Fuad Hashim Rabbani. During the visit, the ACS reportedly found evidence of mismanagement and negligence in patients treatment at BVH’s emergency ward.
