KASUR: An employee of Kot Radha Kishan Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, a suspect in a gang-rape case, was seriously injured after he jumped from the third floor of the facility during a police raid to arrest him and two others on Tuesday.

Earlier, the police had registered a case against the suspect, ‘Z’ and two others for alleged gang-rape of a woman at the THQ hospital.

According to FIR, lodged under section 375 A of the PPC, the complainant, father of the survivor, stated that his daughter went to the hospital and asked an employee ‘Z’ about the children’s ward.

The suspect, instead, took the woman to a deserted portion of the state-run hospital, where he and his two accomplices tied her up with wires and gang-raped her, the FIR said.

Later, on learning about the incident, women’s relatives called police on 15 helpline. Acting on the complaint, a police team conducted a raid on the hospital to arrest the suspects.

During the raid, ‘Z’ jumped from the window of a room on the third floor of the hospital and was seriously injured. He was hospitalised, but was referred to the Lahore General Hospital because of his critical condition.

The two other suspects managed to escape.

Police are investigating the incident and collecting CCTV camera recordings.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Imran Ali took notice of the incident and sought a report from police and hospital administration within two days.
