LAKKI MARWAT: A man was killed and several others were injured when a convoy of Marwat Bittani Tehreek was targeted with a roadside blast in the Bakhmal Ahmadzai area of Lakki Marwat district on Sunday, the police said.

They said the convoy led by the movement’s chairman Inamullah Khan was returning from the Chall Bridge after attending a protest demonstration. “When the convoy reached the area between Chall Bridge and Nangar, a huge explosion took place near the car of Inamullah,” they said, adding, however, that Inamullah remained safe.

“Three terrorists were reportedly killed when the Tehreek’s workers resorted to firing after the blast,” the police said on the basis of initial and unconfirmed information.

In a video clip uploaded on the social media after the blast, the Tehreek chairman Inamullah can be heard saying, “We all are safe and three terrorists have been killed.”

He asked the Marwat and Bittani tribesmen and members of the police Aman committee to reach the Bakhmal Ahmadzai police post.

In another video clip, a Tehreek worker appealed to Rescue 1122 to reach the blast site to shift injured to the hospitals. He said a local resident embraced martyrdom while several others were injured in the blast.

A police official said a large contingent reached the site to shift injured to hospital.

Meanwhile, a man, his wife and a daughter were killed inside their house, and two minors were injured over a dispute in the Surdag area of Karak district on Sunday, the police said.

They said the incident occurred in the limits of Latambar police station. They said the deceased and the injured were shifted to the nearby hospitals.

Nizamuddin, 34, a resident of Surdag, told police that he along with his brothers, Nabeerullah, 30, Inamuddin, Zaheeruddin and other inmates were present in the house, while Nabeerullah, his wife and children were having breakfast.

He said Inamuddin and Zaheeruddin got furious during arguments over a domestic issue and opened fire on Nabeerullah and his family members.

As a result, Nabeerullah’s wife, Amreena, and daughter, Bibi Halima, were killed, while Nabeerullah, his daughter, Bibi Amina, and a nephew, Mohammad Hashim, 9, were injured. They were shifted to a nearby hospital where Nabeerullah was pronounced dead.
