KARACHI: The body of model and actor Humaira Asghar Ali was found in her apartment in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Tuesday, police said.

South DIG Syed Asad Raza said that the 32-year-old actor was found dead in her rented flat located on the fourth floor of a building in Ittehad Commercial, Phase VI.

He said it seemed the body had lain there for the past several days.

The DIG said that in compliance with a court order to get an apartment vacated, the Gizri police, along with a bailiff, arrived there at 3:15pm, knocked on the door but no one responded. He said that the police broke open the door and entered the apartment only to find the actor’s body.

SSP-South Mahzoor Ali told Dawn that she had stopped paying rent since 2024 and the owner got the court order to get the flat vacated.

The police called the Crime Scene Unit, which reached there and collected evidence.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed told Dawn that the body was in a “very advanced stage of decomposition”. She said that the cause of the death was reserved until the receipt of the chemical analysis report of all samples.

However, the SSP said there seemed to be no foul play involved as all the doors were locked from inside. “We are waiting for doctors’ final report to come to a conclusion about the exact cause of the death.”

The police said they were trying to locate her relatives with the help of her cell phone contacts.

According to Dawn.com, Ms Ali featured in ARY reality show Tamasha Ghar as well in 2015 film Jalaibee.

The incident came as a grim reminder of the death of renowned TV artist Ayesha Khan, who was found dead last month in her Gulshan-i-Iqbal apartment, where she had lived alone for many years.
