Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is due to meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson at Capitol Hill, Al Jazeera’s Kimberly Halkett reports from Washington, DC.
This is important because Congress controls the purse strings, and this is where Israel gets its funding for its campaign against Gaza, Halkett said.
Additionally, Netanyahu will be meeting with various members of Congress who for the most part, particularly the Republicans, support the Israeli prime minister. He will also be meeting with some Christian Evangelical leaders who are instrumental in supporting Israel and the campaign to back the Israeli ongoing effort in Gaza, the reporter added.
