NAROWAL: A bogie of the Lasani Express derailed on Saturday near the Baddomalhi railway station suspending rail traffic on the Narowal-Lahore section.

According to details, coach number three of the Lasani Express traveling from Lahore to Sialkot derailed near the Baddomalhi railway station. Following the derailment, traffic on the section was suspended.

The train was packed with passengers. However, no passenger was hurt because of the slow speed of the train.

Daily Passenger Association chairman Hafiz Abdul Qayyum termed the railway track on the Shahdara-Narowal section dangerous and said that it was in a very poor condition. He said that due to its dilapidated condition, passenger trains were derailing on this section.

Mr Qayyum said the Pakistan Railways and its general manager had sought funds from the government to change the track but no action had been taken so far. He warned that this section was at risk of a major accident.

Citizens and passengers have demanded the prime minister and the railways minister to take immediate notice of the situation.
