LAHORE, May 13: The meteorological department on Saturday forecast chances of dust, thunderstorm and rain in many cities in Punjab during the next 24 hours because of what it said further rising of temperature in the country.

The maximum temperature in Lahore was 45.3 degree C against 42.3 degree C of Friday, making weather extremely hot and dry. The minimum temperature was 27 degree C with 44 per cent humidity in the morning and only eight per cent in the evening.

Almost all cities in the province recorded over 40 degree C maximum temperature which was 49 degree C in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Repeated power breakdowns which many term unannounced loadshedding, coupled with short supply of water, made it real hard for Lahorites. Braving hot weather without power and water was like living in a hell, many say.

According to the Met office, the rise in temperature and incursion of moisture from the Arabian Sea had developed a low pressure over the region which could give scattered dust/thunderstorm with rain in Rawalpindi. There were also chances of similar weather conditions in the other cities of the province, including Lahore, during the next 24 hours, it said. —Staff Reporter
