Dozens of Israeli settlers have stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, Islam’s third-holiest site, in occupied East Jerusalem, Al Jazeera reports citing Wafa news agency.

Settlers are Israeli citizens living illegally on private Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

They are reported to have performed religious rituals at the mosque compound, under the protection of Israeli forces.

Under Jerusalem’s status quo arrangements, non-Muslims are not allowed to worship at the compound.
