KARACHI: Naval exercises end

Published May 14, 2006

KARACHI, May 13: The five-day long Pak-French Naval joint maritime exercises "Bright Star" concluded in the Northern Arabian Sea on Saturday.

Pakistan Navy’s Type-21 frigates, aircrafts, submarines conducted joint exercises with the French Navy aircraft carrier, frigates and nuclear submarine.

The Pakistan Air Force also took part in the exercise and had meaningful interaction with carrier-borne aircrafts. The scope of the exercise covered air, surface and submarine warfare.

The exercise further enhanced the interoperability and professional skills of both the navies. It also provided an excellent opportunity of mutual training and learning from each other's experiences.

The Pakistan Navy has always cherished good relations with the French Navy to promote professional contacts and strengthen fraternal ties. Both the navies have come a long way and maintained close relations at all levels.—PPI
