KARACHI, May 12: The New Karachi Town has sealed an illegal hydrant after receiving grievances from area residents.Town Nazim New Karachi Town Mohammad Hanif Soorti vowed that illegal activities would not be allowed in the town. He said this during a surprise raid to the illegally run hydrant in Galaxy Plaza Sector 11-I and Sector 11-D Block-5 here on Friday.

According to a Press release, water was being sold through hundreds of water tankers from this water hydrant daily, which was being run on government land without any license.

Mohammad Hanif said seven powerful water motors have been seized. He was of the view that main reason for acute water shortage in the city was illegal hydrants. Meanwhile, the SITE Town Nazim Izharuddin Ahmed Khan has formed a committee for checking illegal hydrants and connections in the town as there were complaints by the people that many had taken illegal hydrant connections which were adding water scarcity in the different UCs of the town.—PPI
