PESHAWAR: Following approval of the Board of Directors, Prof Shehzad Akbar Khan has been appointed as Dean of Hayatabad Medical Complex-Khyber Girls Medical College, and its affiliate institutes, including Institute of Kidney Disease, Burns and Plastic Surgery Centre and Khyber Institute for Child Health.

A competent surgeon by profession, he is highly respected and admired for his administrative skills that he demonstrated as medical director and hospital director of HMC, according to a statement issued here on Saturday.

He is recipient of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for his leading services during the Covid-19 pandemic. The faculty, staff and trainees of the institute have welcomed his appointment and expressed their desire that Prof Akbar would continue to work and deliver in the same diligent manner as he had done through his professional years.

In his new role, Prof Akbar is expected to contribute significantly in guiding patient care services and undergraduate as well as postgraduate education in the institutions concerned.
