ISLAMABAD: A local court on Friday extended physical remand of Omar Hayat, the main accused in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousuf, handing him back into the custody of the Islamabad Police.

Judicial Magistrate Hafeez Ahmed issued the remand order after the accused was produced before the court following the completion of his initial four-day physical remand. The prosecution team appeared before the court and presented developments in the investigation.

According to the prosecution, the vehicle allegedly used in the crime has been recovered.

However, the accused has so far refused to cooperate in the recovery of his mobile phone. “The accused is intelligent and fully understands the seriousness of the crime, which is why he is deliberately avoiding recovery of the mobile phone,” Prosecutor Raja Naveed informed the court.

The prosecution had requested a further seven-day remand to continue the investigation, citing the need to recover more evidence. However, the court approved a three-day extension instead and ordered that Omar Hayat be produced again on June 23.

The case was registered at the Sumbal Police Station under murder charges related to the brutal killing of social media influencer Sana Yousuf.
