SWABI: The syndicate of Women University Swabi (WUS) has approved Rs647.862 million budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, including a provincial grant of Rs100 million, a press release issued here on Monday said.

The 18th syndicate meeting approved the budget after a detailed review. The budget was earlier discussed and endorsed in the 15th meeting of the finance and planning committee (F&PC).

The budget has now been referred to the varsity senate for final approval.

The syndicate forum termed the budget well-managed, balanced, and forward-looking, addressing both academic and developmental needs of the university.

WUS Vice-Chancellor Prof Ghazala Yasmin lauded the approval of the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

She stated: “It is a matter of pleasure that the budget has been approved. The credit goes to the entire team for their tireless efforts, dedication, and transparent work, culminated in the finalisation of the budget.”

PTI ACTIVIST KILLED: A worker of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf was killed when unidentified assailants opened fire on him on Sunday night, police said. He was identified as Siraj Ali, 50.

The deceased was sitting in a restaurant at Swabi Interchange of the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway when two people approached him and opened fire at him. As a result, he died on the spot.

The body was taken to Bacha Khan Teaching Hospital for autopsy.

Mehraj Ali, brother of the deceased, got registered an FIR with the Chota Lahor city police station against unknown persons.

He said they had no enmity with anyone.

The police said they collected evidence from the crime scene and started an investigation to trace the culprits.

Meanwhile, a man, identified as Adnan Khan, was killed by unknown assailants in Jalbai village of Chota Lahor on Sunday night. His family said it was not clear as to why he was targeted.
