PESHAWAR, May 10: The city police have foiled a terrorism attempt and arrested one person on charges of possessing seven kilograms of explosive material, three detonators and three switches in Akhunabad locality of Gulbahar town, police officials said.

Haji Ghaffar, 30, was carrying the explosive fitted in a TV set when the Gulbahar police stopped a rickshaw in Akhunabad-4 on Tuesday, the officials said.

The accused was charged under the Explosive Substance Act and on Wednesday produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Tila Mohammad Khan. The court remanded him for two days.

The officials said that Haji Ghaffar was a motor mechanic and had a shop in Afghanistan. He had left Afghanistan and at present was doing the same work in Faqirabad area.

KILLED: A person killed his wife and neighbour on suspicion of their illicit relations in Shagai Hinkyan village of Mathra on Tuesday night.

Noor Khan, son of Haleem Gul, told Mathra police that his brother Lal Mohammad on Tuesday night found his wife, Rohida, and neighbour, Said Rehman, in objectionable condition and killed them. Lal Mohammad escaped.
