SUKKUR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Sindh president Haleem Adil Sheikh has termed Rs15bn allocation for M6 (Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway) a ‘delaying tactic’, arguing that it is a peltry amount considering the requirement of Rs200bn.

Sheikh was speaking to the media and the local PTI leaders and activists who welcomed him on his visit to Sukkur on Thursday.

He recalled that PTI had in its government earmarked Rs200bn for M-6, but the project was stalled due to PPP’s corruption and incompetence.

He also voiced his concern over the prolonged delay in the execution of the K-IV project, intended to address Karachi’s water issues.

“Only Rs3bn has been allocated which is absolutely insufficient. At least Rs40bn is required. Citizens are desperate for water, but the government remains indifferent,” he said.

Sheikh launched a scathing attack on the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) holding it responsible for the systematic collapse of education and health sector as well as all essential services in Sindh during its 16-year rule.

“Once again, a paper budget devoid of ground realities is being presented in Sindh,” he said.

He noted that over seven million children are out of school, while hospitals lacked even basic medicines and ambulances.

“The condition of public services is appalling; in fact, every department is riddled with corruption and mismanagement,” he observed.

PPP’s approval for the controversial canal project was nothing but betrayal, he remarked.
