LTTE’s warning to Lankan govt

Published May 11, 2006

COLOMBO: The Tamil Tigers, which came under attack early this week from its dissident faction, has threatened to launch a full-scale attack on the military. The LTTE threat is based on rebel claims that government troops are helping the renegades to infiltrate Tiger territory in the east.

“We would be forced to attack the camps of the Sri Lanka Army if the paramilitaries and government troops continue their attack on LTTE forward defence lines”, S. Elian, an LTTE leader, was quoted as saying by a magazine. Over 30 Tiger fighters have been killed in clashes with the renegade faction.
