LAHORE: US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A Baker and Consul General in Lahore Kristin K Hawkins called on Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz here on Tuesday.

A detailed discussion was held on strengthening the longstanding Pakistan-US relationship and enhancing cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.

The CM appreciated the constructive role played by the US in the recent Pakistan-India tensions and its support for ceasefire efforts.

“The US has a vital role in ensuring sustainable peace in South Asia,” Ms Nawaz said and thanked Natalie Baker for supporting Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

“Pakistan-US relations are a valuable partnership built on shared values and strategic interests,” she said.

Expressing solidarity with the people of California, the CM emphasized the sister-state relationship between Punjab and California.

“We aim to further deepen ties between Punjab and California,” she said and added that Pakistan was emerging as a strategic partner for the US, especially in sectors like textiles.

“The Pakistani-American community serves as a strong bridge between the two nations. We consider the US a key global partner in addressing challenges like climate change, food security, and sustainable development,” she said.

The CM praised Natalie Baker’s active and constructive role as the US Chargé d’Affaires in Pakistan.
