LAHORE: Punjab wildlife and parks department rescued a lion from a private breeding farm in Gujranwala after a video of teasing the big cat surfaced on social media.

On the orders of wildlife Secretary Mudassir Riaz Malik, Deputy Chief Wildlife Ranger Sheikh Zahid Iqbal conducted a raid on a private farmhouse in Sharam Singh area of Gujranwala with the local police and wildlife staff and recovered the male African lion from there.

An FIR has been lodged with Gujranwala Saddar police station against the offender, Usman, who escaped from the scene during the raid. The recovered lion is temporarily kept in Adil Breeding Farm.
