BAHAWALPUR: Four people, including two women and a minor boy, were killed in a collision between a coach and a motorcycle at Katarian check-post near Hasilpur, about 90km from here, on Monday.

According to Rescue 1122, a van was en route to Bahawalpur from Bahawalnagar. As it approached the Katarian check-post on Chishtian Road near Hasilpur, the driver attempted to overtake another bus and collided head-on with an oncoming motorcycle.

The bike and its four riders were crushed under the wheels of the coach, resulting in their immediate deaths. The victims were identified as Naseem Mai (50), Anwar Bibi (30), Hussain (8) and Bilal Ahmed (24).

Their bodies were shifted to the Hasiplur THQ Hospital.

ONE WHEELIE: Three people, including two teenagers, were killed and three others injured in separate incidents, including one wheelie, during Eid and the following days in Bahawalpur district.

Faizan, a resident of Chak No. 7/BC, was killed while his three friends sustained serious injuries while doing a wheelie in the DHA area.

Reports said four friends had gone to the deserted roads of DHA, where no security personnel were present, to do wheelie. During the activity, Faizan lost his life and the other three were injured. Faizan’s body was handed over to his family and the injured were taken to a hospital.

In another incident the same day, 12-year-old ice vendor Habib was fatally struck by a speeding car while crossing the Hasilpur Highway near Dera Bakha, about 12km from the city.

Abbasnagar police arrested the car driver.

In the third incident, Aslam died of suffocation from poisonous gas after entering a manhole for cleaning. He drowned inside the manhole. Rescue officials recovered his body.
