KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead and his accomplice wounded when a citizen fired at them near Madras Chowk on the outskirts of the metropolis.

Police said that two suspects intercepted some passers-by with intention of robbery. However, one of their victims put up resistance and opened fire with his pistol.

They said that the bullets hit the two robbers and one of them died on the spot. The police identified the deceased as Zareen Khan and his wounded accomplice as Naeem Alam.

The police reached the scene and recovered two pistols, stolen cash and a motorcycle.

The wounded suspect was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

Man shot dead in New Karachi

A young man was shot dead in North Karachi on Monday evening, police said.

Quoting statements from eyewitnesses, the police said that Nasir Abdullah, 30, was chasing two suspects on his motorbike when they fired at him in Sector 5-L and rode away.

He sustained four bullet wounds and was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he died during treatment.

Bilal Colony SHO Nasir Khan said that investigators suspected some personal enmity behind the incident.
