PUTD triumph

LAHORE, May 9: Punjab University Teaching Department (PUTD) retained the title defeating Government Post Graduate College, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi 3-1 in the final of the university’s table tennis championship for women on Tuesday.

Rabia drew the first blood for the winners, outplaying Tamseela 12-10, 11-5, 11-7.

The losers retaliated when Kanwal Iqbal outclassed Zoneeza in the second singles 12-10, 11-8, 11-3 to restore parity.

But Uzma made it 2-1 in favour of the PUTD , edging past Mehwish 11-6, 11-8, 11-9 while Rabia sealed the fate of the final overcoming Kanwal Iqbal 11-6, 11-7, 3-11, 11-5.

Government College, Madina Town, Faisalabad claimed the third spot, beating Government Ibn Ameer Colllege, Jalalpura Jattan 3-1.
