QUETTA: The Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) has issued a show-cause notice to its member of provincial assembly (MPA) for violating party policies and being ineffective in the House.

The notice served to Mir Jahanzeb Mengal, an MPA from Wadh, sought reasons for persistent absence from party programmes, demonstrations and protest rallies.

The notice, signed by BNP-Mengal Central Deputy Secretary General Malik Naseer Ahmed Shahwani, accused Mr Mengal of attending government meetings despite a ban by the party and holding discussions with officials without prior permission of the party leadership.

Sources said the party leadership was angry with Mr Mengal after he attended the government-sponsored tribal jirga last week in Quetta.

The event was addressed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir and other government officials.

The notice said Mr Mengal failed to raise his voice in the provincial assembly regarding the issues faced by people.

The MPA has been asked to reply to the notice within 15 days or face disciplinary action.

Mr Mengal confirmed he has received the show-cause notice and said he would reply to the party leadership within the stipulated time.
