NAROWAL: Sialkot police claimed to have arrested the suspects involved in torture of a man after a video clip of the incident surfaced on social media.

A Sialkot district police spokesperson says that District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shahzad took notice of the torture footage surfacing on social media and formed a raiding team, led by Sialkot City DSP Tariq Mehmood, to arrest the suspects.

The team arrested the suspects, including Haseeb, a recovery agent of a private company that offers electronics on installments, along with Zeeshan Rafiq, Ali Butt and Sikandar Ali Haseeb told the police investigators that the victim, Naeem, had bought some electronic appliances from the company on installments and was not paying the monthly amount.

He said that on Naeem’s refusal to pay the installments, they subjected him to torture.

Nicapura police have registered an FIR against the four arrested suspects and an unknown persons on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Zaheer Anwar under sections 355, 431, 148 and 149 of the PPC.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, three men – Taib Iftikhar (21), Mohsin Naeem (27) and Faisal Zubair (36) – riding a motorcycle were run over by a truck allegedly due to failure of its brakes.

A Rescue 1122 team called at the scene provided first aid to the injured men, but they succumbed to their wounds on the spot. The truck driver fled the scene after the accident, leaving the truck.

The police shifted the bodies to the government hospital for the postmortem examination. The police have initiated investigation after impounding the truck.

CLEANLINESS: Special cleanliness arrangements have been completed for Eidul Azha in Sialkot district where 4,500 sanitary workers will perform duty and 1,800 vehicles will be used for garbage collection.
