Shifting of district HQ opposed

MUZAFFARABAD, May 9: Muzaffarabad Municipal Corporation Administrator Zahid Amin has objected to moves to get the district headquarters shifted from the town and has asked the authorities concerned to turn down such ‘controversial’ proposals, Dawn has learnt.

Mr Amin had conveyed his ojections to the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority, which is reported to be sending on Wednesday a team to Garhi Dupatta, the site proposed by some officials as the new district headquarters, sources said.

They alleged that some top officials of the AJK revenue and services department were manoeuvring to shift the district offices to Garhi Dupatta area where they or their relatives owned land.
