PESHAWAR: The newly-elected cabinet of Malgari Doctoran, an organisation affiliated with Awami National Party, has vowed to strive for improvement of healthcare services and resist what it calls so-called reforms initiated by provincial government.

A two-day meeting of central council of Malgari Doctoran concluded at Bacha Khan Markaz here on Monday to elect new provincial cabinet, according to a press release.

The newly-elected cabinet includes president Dr Kashif Ali Khan, senior vice president Dr Salman Gohar, vice presidents Dr Mehreen Kashif Ali Khan and Dr Mansoor Akhtar, general secretary Dr Mohammad Shahzad, deputy general secretaries Dr Saifur Rehman and Dr Laiba Hameed, finance secretary Dr Salman, information secretary Dr Waseem Bangash and culture secretary Dr Baseer Alam.

Dr Ayub Nawaz, Dr Akbar Khalil, Dr Niaz Afridi, Dr Abdul Wadood and Dr Bashir were elected members of executive council of Malgari Doctoran.

A press release said that Dr Haider Ali Khan was elected central president, Dr Hamid Bangash senior vice president from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr Jafar Khan Ghilzai from Balochistan), Dr Izzat Khan from Sindh and Dr Rohail Hayat Kakakhel was elected general secretary.

Dr Adil Shah Roghani, Dr Sanauullah Jan Marwat, Dr Saleem Khan, Dr Imran Khalil, Dr Essa Khan and Dr Abdul Ghafoor were elected members of central executive council.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Dr Kashif Ali Khan on the occasion expressed concerns over government’s measures regarding health sector and vowed to put tough resistance to ensure that people got better health services. He said that government was converting civil servants into medical teaching institutions’ employees, affecting scores of doctors recruited through competitive processes.

He said that the government’s plan of converting more hospitals into medical teaching institutions would deprive patients of healthcare services.

Dr Hamid Bangash said that they would continue to hold free blood donation camps and health clinics under the banner of Bacha Khan Trust.
