KARACHI, May 8: Sindh Squash Association on Monday banned three of its players from taking part in any competition in or outside the country due to their involvement in match fixing during the trials held last week in Hyderabad to select Sindh team.

The decision was taken against Jehanzaib Masood, Azam Khan and Mohammad Naeem in the light of report submitted by the selection committee and match referees.

Disciplinary committee comprising Riaz Ahmed Siddiqui banned Jehanzeb Masood for three years, Azam Khan for one year and Mohammad Naeem for six months.

SSA secretary Tahir Khanzada told PPI: “Ban on these players will definitely weaken our (Sindh) team but the decision is taken in the best interest of the game.”

Describing the variation in the duration of the ban, the secretary said it was Jehanzeb who master minded the plan of match fixing while Naeem was punished less as he accepted his fault.—PPI
