PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz provincial president Engineer Amir Muqam has said that federal government is investing in creative potential of youth for national development to steer them away from negative activities and attract them towards constructive thinking.

He was addressing a gathering at sports complex here on Thursday. The event was held under the aegis of Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.

Mr Muqam, who is also federal minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan affairs, also highlighted plans for women and youth development.

On the occasion, the organisers shared information with participants about Prime Minister’s Youth Programme -- Talent Hunt Boxing Youth Sports League for Women.

Mr Muqam highlighted the current government’s commitment to youth development and economic stability under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He said that Prime Minister’s Youth Programme was meant to empower youth by providing laptops, scholarships, training and job opportunities based on merit to them.

He lauded government’s policies for stabilising national economy, citing resumption of economic activities, reduction in common people’s problems and initiation of development projects in the country.

He also praised armed forces’ recent successes under the leadership of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, emphasising the nation’s solidarity with the military and readiness to make sacrifices for defence of the country.

Mr Muqam said that investing in youth was the best investment as they would be the future leaders and rulers of the country. He congratulated the organisers on successful conduct of ‘Talent Hunt Boxing League for Women’.

He described it as a dream that came true. He noted that the large participation of girl students in the event indicated that women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were ready to play their role in every field.

The minister said that the league would not be limited to Peshawar or Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but it would be expanded to every corner of the country.
