PESHAWAR: Unknown motorcyclists injured and robbed a policeman when he was on his way for duty on Charsadda Road here on Sunday, police said.

A statement issued by city police said that constable Naeemullah was on his way to Qazi Kalay police checkpost on a motorcycle when unknown gunmen opened fire on him.

It added that the constable received a bullet in his right leg, adding that the unknown motorcyclists later snatched his mobile phone and escaped.

The statement said that senior police officials from Faqeerabad division later reached the area and shifted the injured policeman to the hospital, adding that an investigation had been launched into the incident.
