KARACHI: Mayor Murtaza Wahab has ordered digital mapping of ongoing development schemes in the city to ensure transparency and public accessibility.

A statement issued after a high-level meeting at the mayor’s office on Saturday said that the progress of the engineering department was reviewed ahead of the fiscal year-end.

DG-Technical Services Tariq Mughal informed the meeting that 219 development schemes had been completed so far, with more underway to be finalised before June 30. Projects worth approximately Rs2.5 billion are currently in execution as tenders floated.

“The mayor instructed officials to update all ongoing projects on Google Maps to help citizens stay informed, avoid traffic congestion and monitor progress in real time. He also emphasised timely completion of all schemes, warning of strict action in case of delays,” said the statement.

The meeting was also attended by Municipal Commissioner S.M. Afzal Zaidi, Financial Advisor Gulzar Abro, DG Parks Akhlaq Yousafzai, Director Media Daniyal Siyal and other senior officials.
