DACCA: Procedure for expediting collection of East Pakistan Governor’s Refugee Relief Fund was adopted at a meeting of the Fund Executive Committee held this afternoon [May 18] at Government House. Malik Feroz Khan Noon, Governor, presided. A decision to open accounts in the name of the Governor’s Refugee Relief Fund in all treasuries and sub-treasuries in the province as well as the Habib and Muslim Commercial Banks [was] … taken. The Accountant-General, East Pakistan, who is also the Treasurer of the Funds, has been authorised to open the Fund’s accounts. An executive sub-committee to co-ordinate the work of different sub-committees was also formed. …

A proposal to re-start racing in Dacca and subscribe its income to the Fund provoked lively discussion. The proposal, which was vehemently opposed by the President of the Provincial Muslim League, Maulana Akram Khan, however was dropped. The meeting was attended by … a host of leading citizens.
