Mian Azhar

Published May 8, 2006

LAHORE, May 7: Former PML-Q president Mian Azhar says the Constitution should be implemented in letter and spirit to put the state institutions back on the track.

Speaking at a seminar here on Sunday, he said Gen Musharraf’s announcement that Chaudhry Shujaat would remain party president had ‘exposed’ how transparent and fair would be the next general elections.

He said Gen Musharraf had given a very good seven-point agenda when he had taken over in 1999. But, he regretted, the agenda was shelved subsequently and corrupt people were imposed on the nation. As a result, he said, the situation further deteriorated.
