HYDERABAD, Feb 6: A large number of villagers of Tando Qaiser and adjoining areas staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Wednesday against the erratic power supply to the area.

Talking to newsmen, councillor Ghulam Hussain Nizamani, Dr Abdullah Nizamani, Faisal Ameer Nizamani and Mohammad Nooh Khor said that for the last 45 days the residents of Tando Qaiser and adjoining villages were deprived of power supply for 18 hours daily.

They accused the SDO, Tando Jam sub-division, Nadeem Yousufani, and his staff of inefficiency.

They said that the health centres of Tando Qaiser, Bhawal Zaunr, Mir Allah Bux Talpur and Hussain Khan Thoro had also been badly affected.

They demanded the immediate removal of SDO Nadeem Yousufani and called for an independent inquiry.

STRIKE: The former employees of the defunct SRTC continued their token hunger strike outside the press club on the sixth consecutive day on Wednesday.

They were protesting against the non-payment of their outstanding dues.
