KHAIRPUR, May 7: The Khairpur Abadgar Ittehad on Sunday expressed concern over acute shortage of irrigation water in Sobhodero, Faiz Ganj, Thari Mirwah and Kotdiji talukas.

Speaking to reporters, the farmers body president Syed Shakir Ali Shah, secretary Faqir Niaz Hussain Bhambhro and other office-bearers said growers were protesting against the shortage of water, but the authorities were not taking steps to resolve the problem.

There was no water in Bilawal Wah, Pandhro Wah, Veeho Wah, Faiz Ganj, Tirkino Girkino and other minors, they added.

LOAD-SHEDDING: Residents of Saghiyoon staged a demonstration on Sunday against electricity load-shedding and failure of the authorities in replacing the main transformer, which was out of order.

Led by the UC nazim, protesters accused that officials of the Hyderabad Electricity Supply Company (Hesco) were creating problems for consumers by resorting to load-shedding for about 8-10 hours daily.
