KARACHI: A young man was shot dead by robbers in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Wednesday morning, police said.

Area SHO Mohammed Naeem Rajput said that at about 8am Kamran Abbas, 26, was heading to his workplace on his motorcycle when armed men, also on a two-wheeler, intercepted him on main Rashid Minhas Road near Dhaka Sweets and demanded his bike and cell phones.

Abbas offered resistance and tried to overpower one of the criminals, but he fired on him, snatched the motorbike and two cell phones and and fled with his accomplice.

He suffered critical bullet wounds and was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

The area SHO said that investigators were utilizing technology and reviewing CCTV footage to trace and arrest the killers.
