KARACHI: Police on Monday filed an interim charge sheet in the Mustafa Amir murder case before an anti-terrorism court (ATC).
Investigating Officer Muhammad Ali stated in the document that Mustafa was allegedly murdered by prime suspect Armaghan and his accomplice Sheraz, alias Shavez Bukhari, in a house in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Jan 6.
According to the report, the suspects allegedly stuffed Mustafa’s body into the trunk of his own car and torched it in the Hub area of Balochistan.
The IO also sought additional time to file the final investigation report, citing the pending forensic reports from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency.
In the report, the IO stated that a digital video recorder (DVR) was recovered on a lead provided by the suspects, which allegedly shows Armaghan’s employees at the crime scene cleaning the victim’s blood from a carpet.
He further added that other CCTV footage obtained from the Rangers allegedly shows the suspects travelling from Karachi to Hub in the victim’s car on the day of the incident.
Another video purportedly shows them returning to Karachi in a Suzuki pickup, the report claimed.
The interim report also included statements made by the suspects while in police custody. The prime suspect confessed that he murdered Mustafa after an altercation. He told investigators that he was enraged after Mustafa allegedly mocked him over a private matter.
The co-suspect, Sheraz, alleged in his statement that Armaghan later contacted Mustafa’s mother and demanded ransom money.
The report also includes the statement of a woman who claimed to have been physically assaulted by Armaghan a day before Mustafa’s murder. She told police that she worked at a call centre operated by Armaghan and that on Jan 5, she was allegedly beaten by him. She added that, fearing for her life, she refrained from reporting the incident at the time.
Additionally, the IO included the statement of a friend of the victim, who stated during a video call to the IO that Mustafa had messaged him on the day of the incident, informing him that he was going to Armaghan’s house.
