PESHAWAR: The Peshawar deputy commissioner on Monday imposed a ban on flying of drones and quadcopters in the provincial capital for 30 days, a notification issued here said.

According to it, the ban was imposed in light of the law and order situation across the region.

“In light of the prevailing law and order situation across the region, it is necessary to maintain peace and harmony in the district to avoid any untoward incident and reduce the chances of panic, chaos and confusion emanating from flight of drones,” the notification said.

“It was imperative to take measures by imposing ban under section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure on flying of drones/quadcopters to protect critical infrastructure, prevent unauthorised surveillance, eliminate potential aerial delivery of harmful materials and eliminate the possibility of panic, confusion and chaos.”

The notification said anyone found violating the order shall be proceeded against under the Section 188 of Pakistan Penal Code.

LAID TO REST: Funeral prayers of the two police personal, who embraced martyrdom in a suicide attack in the provincial capital on Sunday night, were offered in their native villages on Monday.

Sub-inspector Laeeqzada Khan and constable Alamzeb were martyred when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a police van on the Ring Road.

Khan was laid to rest in Daudzai area, while Alamzeb was laid to rest in Mathra area.

Senior police officials also attended their funeral prayers.
