KARACHI: A man and his teenage son were killed when two speeding buses struck them in Orangi Town on Friday morning, police said.

Pakistan Bazaar SHO Manzoor Lashari said the drivers were racing at the time of the incident.

The father and son sustained critical injuries and were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced Irfan, 37, and his 17-year-old son Mansoor, dead.

The bus drivers fled the scene with their vehicles.

The officer said they had obtained CCTV footage showing both buses involved in the incident but their registration numbers were not visible.

He added that efforts are underway to arrest the drivers responsible for the incident.

Truck runs over, kills woman

A reckless truck driver ran over and killed a woman in Korangi early on Friday morning, police said.

Korangi Industrial Area SHO Mohammed Ali Niazi said that the victim, Shazia Shah, 45, was passing through a road near Chamra Chowrangi along with her minor son when her dupatta fell on the road. As she tried to pick that up, the truck struck her, as a result of which she died on the spot. Her son remained safe in the incident.

Police arrested the driver and impounded the heavy vehicle.
