ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police have claimed that a suspect has been injured in an encounter in the federal capital while his unidentified accomplices have escaped.

The police came up with the usual story and claimed that the suspect was injured by the firing of his accomplices.

However, the content of the FIR and the police statement contradict each other.

As per the FIR, the police team was attacked when they reached the spot where the recovery was to be made, while a statement posted on the official X account of the police claimed that the attack occurred when the police were returning after the recovery.

Besides, the police statement claimed that cash, valuables and weapons were also recovered from the suspect, but this was not mentioned in the FIR.

Section 411 of the PPC for the recovery and Sections 13 and 20 of the Arms Ordinance were also not included in the FIR.

Following the alleged encounter, a case has been registered at Sumbal police station under Sections 324, 427, 353, 186, and 34 of the PPC.

According to the FIR, a suspect was arrested in connection with a robbery committed in January.

During interrogation, the suspect disclosed the location where the looted items were hidden and offered his assistance in the arrest of his other accomplices.

In response, a five-member police team took the suspect to the hiding place at Chelo Village near G-14/2 in a private vehicle and reached there at 10:20pm.

Accomplices of the suspect arrived on a motorcycle when the suspect and police disembarked from the vehicle.

The accomplices started indiscriminate firing at the police with the intention of setting the suspect free from police custody.

The police team reportedly remained unhurt due to safety gear; however, the suspect was injured by the firing of his accomplices.

The police team also resorted to aerial firing in self-defence from behind the vehicle, the police said.

As a result, the accomplices escaped from the spot while resorting to aerial firing. Later, the injured suspect was shifted to a hospital.

The police statement on the official X account about the incident, posted at 12:28am, about two hours after the encounter, stated that the police team was returning after recovering stolen items based on the suspect’s description.
