LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment for the public hospitals on a priority basis.

Presiding over a meeting to review the health projects here on Tuesday, she finalised a proposal to establish a School of Paramedics in the Nawaz Sharif Medical District.

The meeting decided to establish the ‘Institute of Genetic and Blood Diseases Nawaz Sharif Medical District’. The ‘Surgical Orthopaedic Medicine Rehabilitation’ will be established in the Nawaz Sharif Medical District.

She directed to complete Lady Willingdon Hospital project in six months and further directed to take immediate steps for timely completion of all pending health projects. It was also decided in principle to build a cardiology centre in every prominent city across Punjab.

The CM directed to disburse funds for the timely completion of Children Hospital in Rawalpindi. She further directed to avail the services of a team of best doctors in the Children Hospital Rawalpindi.

The meeting was briefed about the ongoing and new projects of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education in the province. She directed to pay complete attention to the early completion of more than 60 per cent of already completed projects.

MASS TRANSIT: The CM also held a meeting on the mass transit projects.

A feasibility study report of the Yellow Line Mass Transit System was presented in the meeting. She directed to start work on the Yellow Line project from the Jinnah Terminal up to Harbanspura at the earliest.

The meeting was apprised about the details regarding eco-friendly e-taxi project in Punjab. She approved in principle the financial model of the e-taxi project and decided to launch a pilot project with 1,100 e-taxis. It was decided to install a solar power system for e-charging stations.

She sought a report on determining more routes for the mass transit system in Gujranwala.
