TOBA TEK SINGH: Three passengers died and more than 20 were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Bahoo Pattan Road in Ahmadpur Sial tehsil of Jhang on Monday.

Rescue 1122 officials said the accident occurred due to speeding by the Lahore-to-Layyah bus, which skidded off the road after the crash and fell into a ditch.

The deceased were identified as Ghulam Eissa (40) of Layyah, Ahmad Raza (38) of Gujranwala, and Nazir Ahmad (35) of Ahmadpur Sial. While most of the injured were given first aid, nine with serious injuries were shifted to Shorkot THQ Hospital and Garh Maharaja Rural Health Centre. They included Nasrullah (43), Abdul Manan (12), Mazhar Munir (40), his daughter Horain (4), Abdul Sattar (52), Shahzad (27), Bano Bibi (63), Haji Ghulam Farid (60) and Mehak Fatima (15).

In another road accident, a speeding car hit people riding three motorcycles near the bus stop of Chak 75 GB on Satiana Road in Faisalabad, killing Khalid Mahmood (48) on the spot.

Three others – Asghar Ali (55), his daughter Aleeza (20), and Khadim Hussain (47) – were seriously injured and taken to DHQ Hospital.

DIES: A 26-year-old labourer, Waris Ali of Chak 35 GB, died after falling from the roof of an under-construction house near Chak 29-RB Mor on Narwala Road. He succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to Allied Hospital.

SUSPENDED: Faisalabad City Police Officer (CPO) Sahibzada Bilal Umar suspended Sub-Inspector Mohsin Ghani from job for misbehaving with hotel staff, torturing them and allegedly opening fire after a dispute over a delay in serving food.

One of his own companions was injured. As the incident’s video was posted online, the CPO took immediate action.

SUICIDES: An undertrial prisoner, identified as Umar Hayat, allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself in a washroom of the Faisalabad district jail.

Jail officials said he was facing a case registered by Chenab Nagar police.

Two women died by suicide in separate incidents in Faisalabad district on Monday, police said.

In Chak 463 GB of Samundri tehsil, Rukhsana Bibi, 35, reportedly set herself on fire.

According to Samundri police, she had been mentally distressed. She suffered critical burns and died.

In another incident in Chak 124-GB, Jaranwala tehsil, 62-year-old Safia Bano, wife of Malik Javed, died after allegedly consuming poison following a domestic dispute.

FIREFIGHTER HERO: Rescue 1122 firefighter Muhammad Saqlain of Faisalabad was declared Punjab’s best firefighter.

District Emergency Officer Zafar Iqbal and Emergency Officer Tariq Mahmood congratulated him on the achievement.
